Welina mai kaua! My name is Leialoha Hurwitz and I grew up in Hawaii with a large extended family and was always surrounded by babies. Being one of the middle cousins I was regularly put in charge of taking care of the younger ones and that is where my passion for families and babies began. As I got older I was frequently called to help out during the postpartum time and give the new parents some rest. It wasn’t until I moved to Seattle that I heard about doulas and I finally felt like I had found my calling; this role that I had already been playing with my friends and family finally had a name. As a birth and postpartum doula I aim to provide care that is evidence based, spiritually grounded, and inclusive of all walks of life.
I completed my birth and postpartum doula training at Bastyr University's Simkin Center for Allied Birth Professionals. I am currently a certified postpartum doula with NAPS and working towards birth doula certification through PALS. My lactation educator certification is through Evergreen Perinatal Education.
